Plant Mechanic

As a Plant Mechanic you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy machinery, ensuring optimal functionality, safety, and operational efficiency.

What you’ll do:

· Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a wide range of heavy equipment, including powered access machinery.

· Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using specialised tools and diagnostic equipment.

· Conduct preventative maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.

· Collaborate with the maintenance team to identify and prioritise equipment repair needs.

· Effectively manage time and resources to meet maintenance schedules and minimize equipment downtime.

· Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.

· Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, troubleshooting issues, and implementing timely solutions.

· Communicate with supervisors and operators to understand equipment performance issues and gather relevant information for repairs.

· Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during maintenance and repair work.

· Keep up to date with the latest developments in equipment technology and maintenance techniques.

What you'll need:

· Previous experience working as a plant mechanic in the repair of plant and equipment or similar.

· Good all-round mechanical skills.

· Experience working on diesel engines.

· Leaving Cert or equivalent.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and produce safe, high-quality work.

· Highly organised with the ability to communicate effectively.

· IT proficient to record jobs electronically.

· Valid driver’s licence.
