Head of Compliance

Oliver James is delighted to partner with an international insurance group in recruiting a Head of Compliance.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to shape and drive the compliance agenda. As the Head of Compliance, you will lead compliance efforts across Ireland, ensuring the company adheres to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary compliance function within Ireland, ensuring the business meets its regulatory obligations.
• Collaborate with group compliance to localise and enhance policies, procedures, and controls.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Central Bank of Ireland.
• Provide ongoing advisory support to first-line of defence while validating the effectiveness of controls at the second-line level.
• Lead the development of the compliance monitoring and testing framework.
• Embed a strong compliance culture across the Irish operations.
• Drive the maturity of the compliance function, aligning local execution with broader group strategies.

Core Competencies and Profile:

• Extensive compliance experience within the insurance or broader financial services industry, ideally in a Central Bank of Ireland-regulated firm.
• Strong working knowledge of local regulatory frameworks, including conduct risk, compliance monitoring, and policy development.
• Ability to work independently while staying closely connected with group stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, particularly at senior and board levels.
• Proven capability in managing relationships with regulators and internal governance forums.
