We are expanding our Bookkeeping Services Department to accommodate the needs of our growing client base. We are looking to hire a client focused and personable Payroll Specialist for our NYC office with experience working with multiple clients in a Business Services environment.

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing payroll, ensuring compliance with applicable payroll tax laws, and addressing all related accounting issues for 1-800Accountant’s clients.

What does the Job Entail?

Comprehensive Payroll Management: Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients, including data collection, entry, and validation to ensure timely and accurate payroll execution.

Client Relationship Building: Develop and maintain trusted relationships with clients by understanding their unique business objectives and payroll requirements, providing personalized solutions and support.

Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about federal, state, and local payroll regulations to ensure all payroll activities comply with legal standards, including tax filings and reporting.

Payroll Tax Administration: Calculate, prepare, and file payroll taxes, including federal and state quarterly and annual reports, and remit employer taxes on behalf of clients.

Issue Resolution: Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries promptly, providing exceptional customer service and support.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes and implement best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Confidentiality and Data Security: Maintain strict confidentiality of client and employee information, adhering to data protection regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting (Preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of related payroll experience working with at least 100 clients/employees
  • Knowledge of leading payroll systems (ADP Preferred)
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new payroll systems
