Must Have: Design experience for wearable products along with Siemens NX, mechanical engineering, fixture design & product design.
Role Summary:
We are seeking highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineers to lead the development of consumer wearable products. In this role, you will own the mechanical design process, balance complex trade-offs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, reliable, and manufacturable solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of mechanical designs for consumer wearable products from concept through production.
- Develop solutions balancing competing requirements such as size, thermal performance, reliability, cost, manufacturability, and aesthetics.
- Conduct tolerance analysis, FEA (thermal/structural), and ensure product performance meets design specifications.
- Collaborate with suppliers to address design-for-manufacturability (DFM) challenges and oversee part development.
- Support pre-production builds to address maturity, supplier needs, and manufacturing challenges.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent) and 5 years of experience.
- Proficiency with Siemens NX for CAD.
- Ability to conduct tolerance analysis (RSS and worst-case methods).
- Understanding of thermal design fundamentals.
- Proven ability to solve complex design problems and conduct root cause analysis (RCA).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with expertise in the following areas:
- Product Design and Manufacturing:
- Experience with the full lifecycle of consumer product design, from concept to large-scale manufacturing.
- Expertise in tooling design and resolving DFM issues.
- Experience with design for various fabrication technologies.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
- FEA skills for thermal and structural analysis.
- Ability to make structured trade-off decisions optimizing cost, performance, and reliability.
- Tolerance analysis techniques and application
- Specialized Expertise (Preferred but not required):
- Proficiency in plastics design for injection molding and advanced molding techniques (e.g., two-shot, over-molding).
- Familiarity with high-density electronic packaging design, including power/thermal/reliability trade-offs.
- Acoustic design for high-quality sound performance.
- Designing for water resistance (IPx standards).
- Design for reliability testing and validation.
