What You Will Contribute:
The Senior Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of computer-controlled and mechanically controlled equipment such as lathe and milling machines to produce precision metal parts. This position will also take precise measurements for cutting or shaping and will select appropriate machine and settings for a given task. This position will work to collaborate with team members and drive innovation to implement new ideas.
Job Duties:
Train and instruct in the operation and set up of CNC machines; write CNC programs.
Operate and set up machines; select appropriate machine and settings for a given task and plan proper sequence of tasks to complete assignments.
Identify new tooling and new machine techniques for improved efficiency.
Review drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production.
Take precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
Troubleshoot issues with programs and machines.
Monitor production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary.
Check output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects.
Identify need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
Operate manual lathes, mills and grinders to machine parts according to specifications.
Education and Experience:
Trade school preferred required
7 years of experience with lathes and CNC programs desired; significant experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree
Qualifications:
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required
Excellent coordination and mechanical skills required
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety required
Intermediate proficiency in math required
Basic computer skills required
Ability to write CNC programs
Ability to prove out new CNC programs
Proficient in leaning out processes and eliminating waste preferred

Work is preformed in a manufacturing environment
Depending on the assigned department, must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift up to 60 pounds, and complete an audiogram test
