Summary Position's hours: Part time 20 hrs/week. Can be flexible. Shift hours negotiable. Reviews a variety of reports for clinical and demographic information, assigns appropriate ICD-9-CM and/or ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis/procedure codes and/or CPT/HCPC procedure codes and enters this information into the electronic system for the purpose of maintaining a complete and accurate clinical data base. Production coding is primarily hospital outpatient. Audits provider documentation to ensure compliance with documentation and coding guidelines. Queries providers for clarifying documentation and other documentation as needed. Provides education to providers regarding documentation improvement opportunities. Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Certification, Registration & Licensure CPC, CCS, or RHIA, RHIT certification required. Experience Coding experience in a Health Information Management department in an acute care facility with a minimum of 2 years experience as a facility coder.
