General Purpose of Job:
Responsible for providing education and administrative support for interprofessional and centralized educational activities in conjunction with the Professional Development Coordinator. Assists with designing, implementing and evaluating professional development activities at the unit and centralized level. Participates in the effective and efficient implementation of the key education processes, annual competency assessment, preceptor development, required ongoing training and assigned programs. Serves as a resource and role model for clinical staff. Assists in identifying learning needs and effective activities to meet the needs of clinical staff related to assigned educational programs. Participates in organizational change.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists with the development and delivery of department-specific and centralized educational activities.
- Assists with identification of learning needs and implementation educational activities to address learning needs.
- Acts as a role model to facilitate the change process to improve clinical processes.
- Assists with implementation of evidence-based practice into nursing and other clinical professional development educational activities.
- Assists the administrative structures to achieve departmental goals.
Education and/or Experience:
- A minimum Associate's Degree (AS) in nursing, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Broad clinical specific knowledge of patient care populations addressed in specialty courses.
- A minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in pediatrics, with two (2) years experience as a preceptor preferred.
- A minimum three (3) years of education and/or presentation skills preferred.
Certificated, License, Registrations:
- Current Texas Licensure Registered Nurse
- BLS and PALS required
- Specialty certification in professional development or trainings and development preferred. Certification required to be attempted upon reaching eligibility.
- Certification as an instructor in advanced specialty courses as appropriate within 1 year of employment.
