Job Description Summary Demonstrates quality of teaching, quality of research and scholarly activity, quality of professional, University, and community service, and professional conduct. Must have experience and credentials as outlined in academic unit guidelines for Assistant Professor. Faculty of Instruction is a full-time non-tenure track (NTT) faculty member with credentials in an academic discipline. The primary purpose of such a position is to teach in a classroom, laboratory or other instructional setting in support of the University’s degree, certificate, and/or licensure programs. Job Description An Assistant Professor of Instruction position is available in Mathematics starting Fall Semester 2024. This is a non-tenure track teaching position. Applicants should have at least an M.S. in Mathematics or a closely related field. All applicants are expected to teach undergraduate mathematics courses through the Calculus sequence. The teaching load is 24 credits for the academic year. The University of Akron offers excellent fringe benefits. The Department teaches a wide variety of courses from general education through graduate level mathematics courses. In addition to serving our mathematics majors, we heavily support the engineering programs in the college. The current faculty in the department has research strengths in the areas of applied and computational mathematics, mathematics of materials, finite group theory, and geometric combinatorics. Successful applicants would be welcome participants in research efforts, however, the focus of this position is on mentoring undergraduates to increase student success.
