The Opportunity: We have an immediate opening in our Santa Clara, CA location for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant is a member of the Abbott’s Corporate Finance Services organization, and will be responsible for financial accounting and reporting in Abbott’s Medical Devices division. Position requires an in-depth understanding of accounting and operational aspects of finance and accounting systems. What You'll Work On: Responsible for a variety of complex month-end closing activities, journal entry preparation, account analysis, intercompany transactions, payroll analysis, account reconciliations, and month-end consolidations. Ensure compliance with SOX, internal controls, Abbott Corporate and division/department specific policies and procedures. Collaborate with FP&A, other accounting colleagues, as well as Third Party Service providers to execute the financial close, provide guidance, and work together to improve processes. Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead efforts to implement process changes. Operate independently, be flexible in an environment with evolving and changing business processes. Participate in projects and initiatives related to existing or new processes/implementations as needed. Complete external and internal audit requests, Sox requests, tax requests as well as ad-hoc requests from other parts of the organization. Support all Company initiatives as identified by management. Required Qualifications: BA / BS Accounting, Finance, business or related field. 4 years of experience in accounting with positions of increasing responsibility. Preferred Qualifications: CPA or advanced education degree is preferred. Prior experience in a large company Shared Services environment or cross-division business unit Past experience with payroll, and intercompany transactions an advantage. Advance level of proficiency with Excel (e.g., Pivot tables, VLOOKUP). Experience with working large ERP systems, SAP and HFM. Ability to quickly learn and navigate new software systems. Accuracy and attention to detail. Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task. Self-starter and can work independently. Highly structured and organized with strict adherence to deadlines.
