We are looking to fill a position for a Scientist working as a full-time employee of Parexel FSP on long-term assignment onsite at one of our clients located in Rahway, NJ. Qualifications MS or BS degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemical engineering, or related applied science field Scientist 2, BS with 1-2 years of relevant experience; MS with no experience Scientist 3, BS with 3-5 years of relevant experience; MS with 1-2 years of experience Required Skills and Experience Previous laboratory experience of not less than one year Understanding of organic chemistry or materials characterization to enable implementation of chemical process development using automation platforms Experience with chemical handling Experience with wet chemistry techniques Hands-on experience with using/maintaining HPLC/UPLC/MS systems (highly preferred) Organization and management of shared laboratory spaces Attention to detail with strong organizational skills A high degree of self-motivation and a drive for continuous improvement Very strong observational and problem-solving skills Strong collaboration skills Desired Skills and Experience Prior experience with robotic or automation platforms in a laboratory setting (highly preferred) Ideal candidate has aptitude or desire to learn programming of various robotic platforms and use that skill set to help solve complex chemical problems Experience with high throughput experimentation and analysis Programming experience in any language desired (e.g. Python, C ) Mechanically inclined with an aptitude for trouble shooting Responsibilities Executing automation workflows for liquid-liquid extraction and reaction screening activities as well as solid-dispensing. Execute robotic workflow for high throughput execution and analysis Maintaining the lab space (stocking lab supplies, ensuring a tidy working area, maintaining waste containers) Assist in the development and implementation of automation platforms for small molecule process research and development. These platforms include high throughput offerings from Tecan, Chemspeed and Unchained Labs, as well as more medium-throughput platforms from AmigoChem, Technobis, Mettler Toledo Quantos, and similar.
