What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical / Electrical Engineering Intern, Instrument Troubleshooting (P-4473) position at 10x Genomics, Inc.?
We are seeking a Mechanical / Electrical Engineering Intern to join the Manufacturing Systems Engineering department for the Summer of 2025. The Manufacturing Systems Engineering group designs and implements equipment for the production of instruments and consumables here at the 10x manufacturing facility. This 10-12 week internship will provide an opportunity to work with R&D to understand design specifications and test methods for instrument components, and to then design and build a troubleshooting bench for the instrument.
This internship offers an opportunity to apply CAD software like SolidWorks and / or AutoCAD to real-world applications, and gain hands-on experience in electrical wiring and fixture fabrication as well as hands-on experience using test equipment like multimeters, oscilloscopes, gauges, and meters.
What you will be doing :
- Design test fixtures using SolidWorks
- Wire electronics and fabricate mechanical components to build the test bench
- Use analytical equipment to troubleshoot and test electrical components
- Write test methods and procedures for troubleshooting
- Work with R&D to understand the design specifications and test methods of the instrument components
- Train fellow engineers and operators on the use of the test bench
