Position Summary This Senior HR Consultant is responsible for supporting a line of business and the corresponding Executive Leadership Team members in Regulated and Renewable Energy. The incumbent is responsible for developing and executing human resources strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of a line of business or corporate function(s) with moderate scope and complexity. In this role, the incumbent serves as the primary liaison for business unit support on all HR issues. The incumbent serves as a strategic business advisor to senior management regarding key organizational and management issues. The incumbent is responsible for articulating human resource needs and translating them into action plans to ensure the sustainable success for the line of business in the areas of succession planning, talent management, change management, performance management, organizational culture and employee engagement, employee relations trends and compensation. In addition, the incumbent assists in the development, design, and implementation of enterprise plans, policies and practices that support the larger business unit and enterprise strategy. The incumbent is accountable for driving collaboration and considering the broader organizational impact of business decisions. Supports a critical line of business of moderate scope and complexity with significant independence and latitude. Responsibilities Requires in-depth knowledge and experience; solves complex problems. Develops new and/or improves existing programs, policies or activities within a discipline that may have a significant impact on an organization/area or a broad impact across the enterprise. Provides independent consultation on moderately complex to complex issues; is knowledgeable of past internal practices and/or best external practices regarding HR-related business issues. Analyzes and understands information, past practices and business objectives to make appropriate recommendations to management/assigned customers. Completes non-routine HR projects with minimal oversight and has the ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces. Develops positive working relationships to effectively complete work activities, to provide strong consultation to management, and to collaborate with a broad range of customers. Consult with leaders to prioritize short- and long-term workforce requirements, and prepare and execute talent plans that will enable business success and align with enterprise strategic objectives. Consult with leaders to determine the organization design that best supports and aligns with business and enterprise objectives, and orchestrate the processes and resources required to effectively execute the design decisions. Align and prioritize business-specific requirements with enterprise-wide HR initiatives to determine an approach that meets each constituent’s primary objectives. Align HR processes with business/function strategic objectives, identify risk-informed solutions and manage priorities. Facilitate change through guideline and policy reforms to enable adoption of new operation models. Includes communication to employees, training and introduction of ideas and resources to inspire stakeholders and leadership in overcoming demanding operational challenges. Review and analyze complex, multi-faceted, large scale, and long-term business challenges that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors Working Conditions Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility. The hiring manager may elect to hire a highly qualified candidate at any office location in NC or SC. Occasional irregular hours to meet 24/7 business needs Occasional travel within Duke Energy’s service territories: North Carolina and South Carolina, Indiana and Florida Performs work in normal office environment Required/Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree In addition to required degree, three (3) or more years related work experience In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND three (3) or more years related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND nine (9) or more years related work experience Desired Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or Human Resource Management Master’s degree in Human Resources or Human Resource Management Six (6) or more years of related HR generalist experience Experience facilitating change through guideline and policy reforms enabling new operation models Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and/or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills required to analyze complex concerns/issues, develop logical conclusions and make appropriate recommendations Demonstrated excellent report writing skills, using clear and concise information, appropriate grammar and speech Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and display good negotiating skills when dealing with diverse customer expectations Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to deal effectively with all levels of employees and management, including effective interpersonal skills (e.g., influencing and listening skills) Ability to work under time constraints and associated pressures Ability to work occasional irregular hours to meet 24/7 business needs Ability to travel occasionally within Duke Energy’s service territories (e.g., North Carolina and South Carolina, Indiana and Florida) #LI-RB1 #LI-HYBRID Travel Requirements 5-15% Relocation Assistance Provided (as applicable) No Represented/Union Position No Visa Sponsored Position No Posting Expiration Date Tuesday, October 31, 2023 All job postings expire at 12:01 AM on the posting expiration date.
