ROLE SUMMARY: As an important member of the Wicked Weed team, the Brewing Supervisor will be responsible for following the established safety and quality processes and for completing all day-to-day activities necessary to make high quality beer. They will be accountable for supervising all brewing and cellar operations including, but not limited to, yeast pitching, filtration, beer transfers, tank CIPs, various fermentation additions and maintenance of parts and hoses. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Follow all safety and policy processes throughout the brewery Practice and set high quality standards throughout hot wort production to finished beer Communicate with leads daily to organize personnel to accomplish all scheduled operations Focus on safety initiatives within the brewing team – including but not limited to reporting injuries, near misses, safety violations, job-hazard analyses, and safety behavioral observations Work with team members throughout the brewing, racking, and packaging, and quality processes Assist in the training of new brewers within the organization Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) throughout the brewhouse and cellars Train the trainers within the brewery Coach and lead brewing leads to effectively meet production demands and complete daily tasks Ensure that all safety and quality standards are adhered to Run daily meetings with the team Manage all 1:1s and development paths for growth for team Manage the production schedule, cellaring schedule, and filtration schedule Weekly planning, scheduling, and reacting to production changes; keep brewing records updated and organized Prioritize and delegate tasks in the brewhouse and cellars Effectively communicate to leads and any other appropriate personnel any production abnormalities or misses Troubleshoot and problem-solve issues throughout brewing, ensuring beer is within specifications- including completing 5-why processes Provide strong leadership to the brewing leads as well as other team members on the floor Work with Master Scheduler to create and develop a production schedule Manage all personnel schedules Manage all timekeeping and ensure schedules are being met Manage day to day operations throughout the cellar and brewhouse Work to continuously improve safety, quality, and 5S culture, including 5S audits and other improvement projects Manage and coordinate PM with the maintenance department Support efforts around trials, data management, and sensory analysis Prioritize and submit maintenance requests related to the brewing department Help implement changes to recipe and process, and maintain brand quality across all brands produced at Wicked Weed Portsmouth Work on continuously improving processes and efficiencies Additional duties may be assigned as necessary JOB QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED required 5 years brewing experience required 2 years leadership experience required Diploma or certificate in Brewing or Fermentation sciences from an accredited brewing school-preferred Knowledge of beer styles and sensory attributes Maintain a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as needed General knowledge of safe practices, methods, tools, and equipment used in production and pub-style brewing. Mastery of brewing, cellaring, and proficient in packaging and quality A team player, open to learn and willing to contribute to all areas of the brewery as needed Ability to interpret technical bulletins and schematics on equipment related to work Strong communication skills required - Ability to follow oral and written instructions Develop decision making skills and leadership skills to leads on the floor Computer skills including MS Office software and company timekeeping system Ability to influence teams and coach employees on tasks Involves frequent walking, lifting, and carrying objects weighing 50lbs routinely, occasional lifting of 70 lbs. Must be able to work with fitted face respirator (provided) for periods not to exceed 30-minutes Frequent use of latches, hand tools, clamps, hoses, etc., requiring manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination. Continual lifting, carrying, and manipulating of hoses, parts, pumps, buckets Requires standing, walking, crouching, and lifting regularly throughout the duration of the shift Requires occasional working at heights up to 45’ The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required in production areas General knowledge of safe practices, methods, tools, and equipment used in production A team player, open to learn and willing to contribute to all areas of the brewery as needed Ability to interpret technical bulletins and schematics on equipment related to work The work environment is a brewery The employee regularly works with hazardous machinery, materials and chemicals The employee works on wet floors and with wet equipment The employee regularly works around high voltage, hot water and steam WHY ANHEUSER-BUSCH: Anheuser-Busch has always dreamed big.
