As Director of Operations, you will play a key role in ensuring that our cafes continue to thrive, leading our team with a focus on excellence, efficiency, and a strong community ethos. Working closely with the Owner and General Managers, you will oversee daily operations, drive strategic initiatives, and support a positive, team-oriented culture.

Your leadership will shape the way our cafes operate, from ensuring high service standards to fostering a collaborative and engaged team. You will drive key initiatives around staff development, operational efficiency, menu innovation, and community engagement.

A Typical Day:

As Director of Operations, you will oversee both cafes and work closely with managers, staff, and the owner to maintain and improve operations. In this role, you will:

  • Lead by example, coaching managers and staff to uphold 1369’s standards of service and hospitality.
  • Embody servant leadership by being present and working the floor alongside staff, assisting where help is needed and working shifts in the store to know our staff and customer base.  
  • Support and develop General Managers, meeting with them regularly, and helping them grow as leaders, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Implement and refine training programs and operational systems to maintain consistency and efficiency across locations.
  • Work with the management team to enhance the menu, ensuring it remains interesting, fresh, relevant, and aligned with customer preferences.  
  • Lead staff at all levels to encourage creativity and develop new ideas and recipes.
  • Observe both people and processes to understand the bigger picture and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Plan and facilitate staff meetings, leadership meetings, and team events to foster a strong, connected workplace culture.
  • Oversee marketing initiatives, including social media and customer engagement efforts, to maintain strong community ties.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, permits, and operational best practices.
  • Collaborate with the owner and finance team to track financial performance, manage costs, and set pricing strategies.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues, including equipment maintenance and facility improvements.
  • Champion community involvement through initiatives like Drink for a Cause and other give-back programs.


Your Expertise:

Must Have:

  • 3 years in a management role, preferably in the food service industry.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in a similar operational leadership role, preferably in food service.
  • Proficiency in financial management and reporting.
  • Experience managing multiple locations.
