Residential Advocate (FT)

180 Turning Lives Around, LLC is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive services to individuals and families affected by domestic and sexual violence. Our mission is to empower survivors, promote safety, and create lasting social change through advocacy, education, and support services.

Responsibilities

• Answer 180’s Domestic Violence Hotline calls providing crisis intervention, telephone screenings, information and referrals.
• Answer 180’s Rape Care Hotline calls, obtain callers’ name, phone number and presenting problem, and contact Volunteer Rape Advocate on-call to respond to callers.
• Maintain shelter housekeeping assignments: supervision of chores, menus and other tasks as requested by Program Coordinator, assist in organization and distribution of donations, maintain pantry inventory and list of supplies needed, maintain cleanliness of staff areas (offices, bathrooms and kitchen).
• Complete shift report and monthly statistical reports.
• Provide support and assistance to clients entering, residing, or exiting the shelter.
• Maintain accurate records of client contacts and observations in the Shelter Log.
• Enforce and support shelter agreement procedures and rules.
• Facilitate support or topic groups with clients as needed and directed by case managers.
• Notify on-call supervisor of any emergency, incident or accident that occurs during the shift.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
• Obtain coverage for any regularly scheduled shifts you are unable to cover in a timely fashion.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2 years’ experience working with domestic violence and crisis intervention preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• 40 hours’ domestic violence training (if necessary, we will provide upon hire).
• Valid NJ driver’s license.
• This position is contingent upon clearing fingerprinting and a background check
