Position Overview
The
Proposal Strategist plays a critical role in shaping competitive proposals that position 1898 & Co. as a strategic advisor, not just a service provider. Working closely with pursuit managers, business development leads, and subject matter experts, this role develops compelling
win themes , refines proposal messaging, and maintains pursuit materials so they are
organized, up to date, and strategically aligned.
As the lead for
AI-driven efficiency , the Proposal Strategist will implement tools to streamline content creation, automate response management, and extract insights from past pursuits, enhancing consistency and competitive differentiation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Proposal Development: Assist in developing tailored, high-impact proposals by refining messaging, structuring responses, and aligning with client needs and competitive positioning.
Proposal Review & Editing: Edit and refine proposal narratives to enhance clarity, impact, and strategic alignment. Transform technical input into persuasive, client-focused language that reflects a consulting-oriented approach.
Win Theme & Content Strategy: Build and maintain a repository of win themes, strategic messaging, and high-value content (e.g., case studies, standard responses, and competitive differentiators) to strengthen proposal positioning.
Proposal Asset Management: Oversee the organization and continuous enhancement of key pursuit assets, including resumes, project case studies, client testimonials, and industry insights, to seamlessly integrate into proposals.
AI-Driven Innovation & Process Optimization: Lead the implementation of AI-powered tools to enhance content creation, automate proposal management, and extract insights from past pursuits. Leverage AI for competitive analysis and trend forecasting to refine win strategies.
Quality Control, Brand Consistency & Competitive Positioning: Align all proposal materials with the 1898 & Co. brand while maintaining a high standard of professionalism, clarity, and persuasive storytelling that differentiates us from competitors.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or related field and 4 years in marketing, business development, or sales with a professional services firm.
- Experience at a consulting firm is preferred.
- Applicable years of experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Adobe InDesign strongly preferred.
- Certified Proposal Management Professional - APMP or equivalent is preferred.
