Are you passionate about transportation planning, mobility solutions, and sustainable community development? 1st Choice is seeking Transportation Planners at all levels to support a high-profile public sector agency in comprehensive mobility planning, transportation infrastructure development, and park access initiatives. These roles offer a unique opportunity to shape multimodal transportation strategies, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and transit-oriented development that enhance parks, open spaces, and community connectivity.

Key Responsibilities (Based on Experience Level):

  • Entry-Level Transportation Planners – Support research and policy development for park mobility plans, multimodal transportation studies, and community engagement initiatives. Assist in analyzing traffic flow, transit accessibility, and pedestrian/bicycle connectivity within parks and open spaces.
  • Mid-Level Transportation Planners – Conduct transportation impact assessments, develop transit-oriented policies, and coordinate with local agencies on infrastructure projects that improve public access to parks, trails, and recreational facilities.
  • Senior-Level Transportation Planners – Lead regional mobility initiatives, multimodal strategy development, and high-impact transportation planning efforts to support sustainable growth and equitable park access. Engage with stakeholders to drive policy development for Complete Streets, Vision Zero, and active transportation networks.

Depending on Your Experience, Responsibilities May Include:

  • Developing and implementing transportation policies that enhance public transit access to parks, greenways, and open spaces.
  • Conducting research and data analysis to support bike and pedestrian safety, transit-oriented development, and multimodal connectivity.
  • Reviewing transportation impact studies and traffic flow models to assess how mobility infrastructure supports parks, trails, and recreational spaces.
  • Engaging with community stakeholders to collect input on equitable transportation access and sustainable mobility initiatives.
  • Leading multimodal planning projects, including Complete Streets, Vision Zero, and Smart Growth strategies for parks and open spaces.
  • Utilizing GIS, AutoCAD, and transportation modeling tools to analyze and visualize data.
  • Collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies to advance regional mobility and land use planning efforts.
  • Preparing reports, presentations, and policy recommendations for leadership, planning commissions, and municipal agencies.

What We're Looking For:

  • Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field.

Experience Levels:

  • Entry-Level: Up to 3 years of experience in transportation planning, transit development, or multimodal mobility projects.
  • Mid-Level: 3-7 years of experience, with expertise in transportation impact analysis, transit planning, and mobility infrastructure development.
  • Senior-Level: 7 years of experience leading large-scale transportation initiatives, sustainable mobility planning, and policy development.

Technical & Policy Knowledge:

  • Experience in multimodal transportation planning, transit network design, and infrastructure development.
  • Knowledge of Complete Streets, Vision Zero, Smart Growth, and regional mobility policies.
  • Proficiency in GIS, AutoCAD, Synchro, or other transportation modeling tools.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Ability to engage with municipalities, transit agencies, and community organizations to support collaborative transportation planning efforts.
  • Experience presenting findings, policy recommendations, and infrastructure planning reports to stakeholders.

Project & Policy Development:

  • Ability to analyze traffic patterns, assess transportation infrastructure needs, and develop regional mobility solutions.
  • Experience managing transportation projects from concept to implementation.
