Green DOT Transportation Solutions was started in 2011 to fill a niche role in transportation planning services. Our goal is to improve transportation facilities and the associated human travel experience through progressive planning approaches, comprehensive project development, and aggressive project delivery strategies. We work with the built, natural, and human environments to develop effective transportation plans and programs that ultimately create safe, efficient, and effective transportation solutions.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an Associate or Senior Transportation Planner to lead transportation planning efforts, oversee projects, and engage with stakeholders to advance sustainable and equitable mobility initiatives. This role is primarily remote but requires occasional in-person meetings, site visits, and community engagement activities across Northern California and occasional visits to our office site in Chico.
Responsibilities:
- Develop regional transportation plans, active transportation plans, corridor studies, transit studies, and other transportation planning studies and reports.
- Conduct research, gather and analyze transportation and demographic data, and compile findings and prepare recommendations in written form for projects, including project analysis.
- Prepare maps, tables, charts, and other figures for community outreach, state reporting, and to include in transportation plans and studies.
- Support/oversee grant application preparation and development for transportation-related grant programs.
- Develop reports, studies, presentations, and other technical documentation to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
- Participate in project meetings with government agencies, transportation program trainings, conferences, and technical committees.
- Organize, plan, and attend/lead community outreach events; coordinate meeting scheduling, venue planning, advertising, and preparing presentation and community engagement materials.
- Provide guidance and collaborate with other team members on various tasks as needed.
- Assist in delivering/managing key elements of client deliverables of moderate to high complexity.
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of transportation policy, funding programs, and regulatory frameworks in California.
- A combination of technical experience with GIS mapping, data analysis, travel demand modeling, and/or design skills in Adobe Creative Suites and Canva.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting and collaborate with a geographically dispersed team.
- Exercises good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for in-person meetings, site visits, and community outreach.
Associate Planner:
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in planning, geography, or a closely related field;
AND
Two years of experience in transportation planning, multimodal mobility, or a closely related field.
Senior Planner:
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in planning, geography, or a closely related field;
AND
Five years of experience in transportation planning or a related field, or at least two years of experience at a level equivalent to Associate Transportation Planner.
