What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collector position at 1st Community Federal Credit Union?
Under general supervision, uses established policy and procedure to track delinquent loans and carry out collections activities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Tracks assigned delinquent loans and negative accounts and determines actions to take on each account, including repossession of collateral, filing lawsuits, recommending loans for charge off, or any other appropriate collection actions. Documents actions taken.
- Keep track of assigned accounts to identify outstanding debts. Plan a course of action to recover outstanding payments and negotiating payoff deadlines or payment plans. Follows up with accounts as needed and documents all member interactions.
- Conducts skip tracing research as necessary. This may involve contacting friends, relatives, law enforcement agencies, and door knocks.
- Complies with all applicable policies, procedures, laws, and regulations, with particular regard to the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act).
- Ability to analyze situations and make sound decisions regarding obtaining the satisfaction of the debt.
- Maintains knowledge and cross-training in the credit card area.
- Represents the credit union to the members and the community in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Two years of related business experience.
