Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Operations to lead, manage, and optimize our construction company’s operations. The Director of Operations will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project execution, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. This role will also involve strategic planning, resource management, and continuous improvement to drive efficiency across the organization. The Director of Operations reports to the VP of Operations. The Director of Operations position is an in-person role.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership:
- Lead and manage daily operations across multiple solar construction projects, ensuring consistent quality, safety, and adherence to timelines.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational performance, including process improvements, resource allocation, and cost management.
- Build and manage KPIs and metrics of the company to ensure operations are performing and always trying to improve.
- Oversee project management teams and provide guidance on project execution, troubleshooting, and resolving issues.
Project Management Oversight:
- Ensure the successful completion of construction projects by overseeing project managers, ensuring they meet project goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Collaborate with project managers to set project goals, establish schedules, and define deliverables.
Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain and enforce a strong safety culture across all operations in compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Lead and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, mentor employees, and create professional development opportunities.
- Work closely with HR and leadership teams to ensure adequate staffing and training for operational excellence.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
- Communicate regularly with senior leadership and clients to report on project status, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with company goals.
- Represent the company in meetings, negotiations, and discussions related to project progress and operations.
Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the operations team.
- Implement process improvements to optimize productivity, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior management role.
- Proven experience in managing commercial construction projects from inception to completion.
- Must have worked for a company with at least 100 employees or more and annual revenues of $50M or greater.
Skills & Competencies:
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and industry regulations.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in project management software, construction management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to make data-driven decisions and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of safety and regulatory compliance in the construction industry.
Compensation
Salary based on experience: $115,000-150,000
Bonus plan: Additional compensation based on performance
