Position
The Financial Analyst will support the Commercial Real Estate Team and will serve a key role through financial analysis, modeling, underwriting, due diligence, reporting, and operations support at the portfolio, investment, and project level. Generating, summarizing, and presenting meaningful data and information to executives and key decision makers is critical for the company to maximize value and returns. This position is ideal for an individual with existing financial analysis experience, an analytical mind, excellent presentation and communication skills, and a strong work ethic that is seeking a career broadening opportunity within a stable and expanding real estate portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Build and present robust Excel models.
- Support the development and refinement of portfolio optimization and asset allocation strategy.
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reporting, including commentary and variance explanations.
- Build and maintain investment models.
- Prepare internal valuations through discounted cash flow modeling.
- Perform annual hold / sell analysis.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and business planning.
- Review, analyze, interpret reports and financials; identify issues and trends.
- Analyze the use of leverage in the portfolio. Analyze tax optimization strategies such as 1031 tax deferred exchanges for dispositions.
- Assist in the formulation of strategy for land holdings by performing hold / develop / sell / lease / ground lease analysis.
- Prepare development project proformas.
- Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of project reports to include project and job costing.
- Assist in the underwriting and due diligence of transactions including reading and interpreting leases, loan documents and partnership agreements.
- Support asset management in areas such as the impact of capital spending, lease analysis, expense reconciliations, tax appeals.
- Serve as liaison between the real estate team and the accounting and FP&A teams.
- Work on ad hoc projects and requests as needed.
