Responsible for providing sign language interpreting services to deaf and hard of hearing employees and patients of all ages, ensuring that communication with people who have a hearing loss is effective. Available to hospital and clinic locations as assigned for interpreter services during regular office hours, outside of regular business hours, and if the existing staff interpreter is not available. Provides assistance/support to the Sign Language Supervisor for trainings and special programs for Essentia Health under supervision.Education Qualifications:
Completion of nationally accredited interpreter training program with a degree in interpreting.
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Required Certifications:
Must currently possess one or more of the following
- NAD/RID National Interpreter Certification (NIC).
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certification with CI (Certification of Interpreting)
- CT (Certification of Transliterating);
- National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Level III, IV or V.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years interpreting experience
- Experience interpreting in a medical setting, or equivalent.
