Description
General Responsibility:
The duties of the Safety Coordinator are to be responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing company employees’ safety at work. The main duty of a Safety Coordinator is to ensure that the company is complying and adhering to OSHA guidelines as well as the company standards for safety in the workplace. Training employees on the importance of health and safety on the jobsite.
Significant Duties:
- Assist Operations with coordinating safety walks and inspections before the start of a project to analyze safety risks.
- Conduct jobsite safety observations and maintain safety reports.
- Manage regular inspection of work areas, job sites, and work crews to ensure that all operations are being conducted safely.
- Inspecting production equipment and processes to make sure they are safe for use.
- Educate employees on safety standards and expectations as well as machinery operation.
- Conducts accident and incident investigations, determining root causes and making recommendations for corrective action.
- Conducts frequent job-site safety audits and provides safety expertise in response to all identified deficiencies and requests for safety assistance.
- Presenting safety procedures to employees in meetings or lecture-type training sessions
- Ensures adherence to local, state, and federal regulation as well as all company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with Human Resources in new employee on-boarding process for safety.
- Intervene and correct unsafe activities or operations.
- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide information to management as needed.
- Responsible for documenting and logging all safety training, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Conduct facilitates training to employees in a formal and informal setting on as needed basis.
- Follow all safety procedures on the jobsite.
- Performs within the values and guidelines of 20/20 and adheres to the 20/20 Policies and Procedures
- Believes in and champions 20/20’s core values and inspires others to do the same.
- Other duties or projects as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High School graduate or GED required. 2-3 years’ experience managing safety efforts in multi-family projects preferred and/or combination of multifamily field/safety experience.
- Prefer mobile equipment trainer on Telehandler, Scissor-lift, Forklift and Ariel-Lift
- California Class C Driver License with good DMV record is required.
- Must have OSHA 30hr and CPR-First Aid certification.
- California Class C Driver License, with good DMV record is required.
- Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
- High proficiency with MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Bilingual, ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is required. Ability to teach, mentor, lead by example, and maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with many different people inside and outside of the company.
- The ability to present and explain health and safety topics.
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask while prioritizing tasks and managing time appropriately.
Physical Requirements:
The position of Safety Coordinator requires that you are able to lift objects that weigh up to 75 pounds, climb a ladder, squat and kneel, twist and bend. Exposed to constant work in outdoor and indoor weather conditions. Frequent driving to jobsites and the ability to walk on uneven unclean terrain for several hours will be necessary.
