The Director of IT Operations will oversee the management of our network infrastructure, server and device management, and help desk and computer operations. This role is responsible for maintaining a secure and robust IT environment, managing IT operations vendors, and overseeing IT infrastructure purchasing. Additionally, the Director will collaborate closely with the IT leader of integrations and acquisitions to allocate resources effectively during expansion phases.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Provide strong, strategic leadership for the IT operations team. Develop and mentor IT staff through training, establishing goals, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews. Ensure team alignment with the company’s objectives and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Network and Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design, enhancement, and operational management of network architectures, including data centers, corporate networks, and other communication infrastructures. Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and scalable growth that aligns with business needs.
  • Server and Device Management: Manage the lifecycle of servers, storage, and endpoint devices, including deployment, maintenance, and retirement. Ensure systems are updated, secure, and operating efficiently to support organizational operations without downtime.
  • Help Desk and Computer Operations: Direct the operations of the help desk team to provide excellent technical support and customer service. Implement best practices for incident management, service request fulfillment, and effective communication within the user community.
  • IT Purchasing and Vendor Management: Manage the purchasing process for IT infrastructure and operations, ensuring cost-effective solutions. Develop and maintain relationships with key IT vendors and service providers. Negotiate and manage contracts to ensure they meet the quality, cost, and delivery standards required to support business operations.
  • IT Infrastructure Purchasing and Budget Management: Manage the procurement process for IT infrastructure and operations, ensuring cost-effective solutions. Oversee the IT operations budget, forecast costs, and provide financial reports to the CIO to ensure alignment with fiscal strategies.
  • Strategic Planning and Project Management: Recommend strategic initiatives for IT operational functions, including identifying technology trends and assessing their impact on business processes. Initiate and manage IT projects, from scope definition and resource allocation to execution and evaluation.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Monitor and manage risks associated with IT operations. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Implement security protocols across all IT systems to protect company data and infrastructure from cyber threats.
  • Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies for IT operations. Ensure robust and tested procedures are in place to minimize downtime and maintain operations during unexpected events.
  • Performance Reporting and Communication: Regularly report to the CIO on IT operations metrics, project statuses, and strategic initiatives. Utilize performance data to highlight achievements, identify challenges, and drive decision-making processes for continual improvements.
  • Collaboration and Support for Integrations and Acquisitions: Provide IT resources and support for organizational change initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, and integrations. Ensure seamless technology integration and alignment with overall business strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred and a Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing medium to large teams.
  • Proven experience in managing network infrastructures, server environments, and IT help desk operations.
  • Strong knowledge of current and emerging IT technologies and infrastructure best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of mentoring teams and collaborating with executive management.
  • Experience with IT operations in mergers and acquisitions is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, vendors, and IT procurement processes effectively.

    Additional Information

    Travel: 30%

    Type:  Full-time

    Location: Houston, TX

    Compensation: $135,000 to $150,000 USD

    Relocation: No Relocation

    Physical Demands: Occasionally lifting a maximum of 50 lbs. The position sits completing computer and phone work.
