We are currently seeking a skilled, knowledgeable, Drain Cleaner to join our team of professionals. Qualified candidates must exhibit proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing pipes and fixtures associated with heating, cooling, water distribution, and sanitation systems in residential and commercial structures; fixing domestic appliances, such as dishwashers and gas cookers; and inspecting drainage and other plumbing systems for compliance with local and national regulations as well as provide general plumbing/drain cleaning services. This position handles service calls to customers in their homes and sells fixtures, service agreements, and any other service /product deemed necessary to complete/prevent additional damage. Utilizes customer service training to educate and assist customers in choosing service, products and finance options.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing
- Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts
- Installs pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, air, or other liquids
- Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation
- Chooses plumbing materials based on budget, location, and intended uses of building
- Assembles fittings and valves for installation
- Modifies length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed for a building
- Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary
- Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems
- Analyses problem and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair
- Removes roots, debris, and other refuse from clogged sewer lines and drains using portable electric sewer cleaning machine
- Repairs breaks in underground piping: Positions or disassembles sewer trap machine at sewer or drain outlet
- Observes residue for evidence of mud, indicating broken sewer line. Measures distance from sewer opening to suspected break, using plumbers’ snake, tapeline, or by estimating position of cutting head within sewer.
- Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes
- Documents the problem and summary of actions taken
- May estimate cost of service to customer
- Always maintains a safe work area according to company policy
