Pay Rate : $19.78 / Hour without benefits
Duration : 2 years (possible extension)
Must have :
CDL Driver's License.
Job Description :
The position handles all CDL needs for the agency.
Responsible for operation of trash vehicles (compactor and roll off units) and removal of trash on grounds.
At this level, employees have authority with decisions on work methods and techniques within guidelines of the project.
Examples of duty :
Operates trash compactor Operates trash roll-off units Operates tractors and blades Operates large backhoes
Operates water trucks Operates light equipment including a forklift, bobcat, mustang, high lift, and ditch digging excavators Operates small equipment such as jackhammer, heavy drills, lawn mower
Ability to drive a semi-tractor trailer if needed
Performs a variety of routine mechanical repairs on construction / heavy equipment
Provides care and minor maintenance of equipment and ensures the safety of equipment and crew members. Ability to perform standardized lubrication, inspection, and preventive maintenance work on small power equipment.
Supervises and trains less skilled operators Instructs, guides, and counsels subordinate-level workers in carrying out a variety of tasks.
Maintains a record of equipment, trash dumps, vehicle mileage, and other information as required for work projects.
May maintain records and files on motor vehicle gas and oil consumption, mileage, and maintenance needs.
Oversees any temporary drivers hired for large events and State Fair Responsible for preparing a schedule of trash runs to ensure refuse is hauled within the hours of operation of the landfill locations on State Contract, and to ensure adequate availability of empty refuse receptacles
Assists other tradesmen as time permits including, but not limited to carpenter, mechanic, plumber
Required skills :
Operating and maintaining a variety of heavy construction equipment, e.g. backhoe, front-end loader, water truck, tractor, trash truck, operating and maintaining equipment, small power equipment, Basic computer skills.
Required Work Experience :
Knowledge Considerable knowledge of the safe and effective use, operation, and maintenance of various heavy equipment; maintenance techniques; and record maintenance.
