Job Title: Correctional/Nurse Practitioner
Location: Lebanon, OH 45036
Duration: 6 months with possible extension
Shifts: 32 Hours weekly
Job Duties:
- Monitor progress of and intervene in the course of chronic illnesses, using ODRC policies and protocols for guidance
- Inoculate or vaccinate against communicable diseases & prescribe medications or administer treatment of acute and chronically ill patients & perform minor surgery as training & competency allows
- Perform routine physical exams of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions & diagnose new conditions
- Evaluate patients for the necessity of specialty referral consultations inside or outside the institution & review said consult reports for recommendations, approving or disapproving accordingly
- Order & review the results of laboratory, x-ray, & other diagnostic testing as appropriate
- Facilitate the completion of medical reclassification & requests for non-formulary medications as necessary with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO)
- Perform routine & emergency medical care of patients as scheduled
- Examine, diagnose & treat patients within scope of practice, as identified by the State of Ohio Nursing Board, as applicable
- Conduct rounds on infirmary patients as deemed appropriate by the CMO
- Document medical information gathered during patient interviews according to ODRC Office of Correctional Healthcare guidelines, policies, protocols & related American Correctional Association standards currently in practice, documenting all assessments & diagnostic impressions, as well as any other treatment plans & follow-up parameters
- C cooperate with CMO medical quality oversight & accept suggestions, redirection, and guidance
Requirements:
- Nurse Practitioner license
- BLS Copy
