Job Description:
The Director of Accounting is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all accounting activities related to our development projects and property management operations. Leading the accounting team, this role ensures the integrity of accounting information by establishing quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial data.
- Implement and monitor accounting policies and procedures to maintain compliance and enhance efficiency.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Coordinate budgeting and financial forecasting processes, analyzing and reporting variances.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting, managing all aspects of the general ledger.
- Coordinate with government agencies for compliance and reporting as well as tax filings.
- Mentor and develop the accounting team, promoting a culture of excellence.
- Support department heads and the CFO in decision-making processes.
- Engage with external auditors and advisors on financial audits and other matters.
- Provide strategic insights based on financial analysis to support business growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a CPA or Master’s degree being advantageous.
- A minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably within the real estate sector.
- Expertise in GAAP and comprehensive knowledge of financial reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively presenting financial data.
