What are the responsibilities and job description for the Blast Hole Driller position at 3 Rivers, Inc.?
We are looking for motivated individuals with prior drilling and/or heavy machinery operating experience.
Applicant must be able to follow instructions and pay close attention to detail.
Applicant will be operating cabbed rock drills of various sizes, drilling holes to load with blasting agents.
Successful applicants will always focus on safety of self, coworkers and the public at all times as they fulfill job responsibilities. Applicant will be able to operate heavy machinery without causing damage to it or other surrounding equipment and follow company safety policies and procedures. A successful applicant will be able to monitor gages, equipment condition and pay close attention to the performance and needs of the equipment while operating it.
The drill operator will also need to learn and monitor ground conditions to determine how to effectively operate equipment without causing excessive wear and tear to the drill and its implements. They will need to lift in excess of 50 lbs., and perform basic maintenance/ up-keep on equipment while meeting production goals. Successful operators will learn to layout drilling patterns that meet contractor needs for blasting and interact with the contractor in a professional manner.
In this position you will also learn to load blast holes with explosives and blasting agents, shovel stemming material into blast holes, connect detonators in series to control blasts, and operate a skid steer. Applicant must also accurately complete daily paperwork including equipment checks, job safety analysis, work place inspection forms, and vehicle inspection reports. This is a labor intensive aspect of the job.
While this job will include training and extensive teaching, prior heavy equipment operating experience is necessary. Previous drilling experience is preferred but not required. Successful applicants will know or learn how to safely operate rock drills in various types of terrain including pioneering on unimproved terrain, mine sites and other similar locations.
Applicant will need to possess MSHA and OSHA 10 papers or attend a class at company expense.
Applicant must pass an ATF background check. Persons with felonies need not apply. Weekly travel is required, applicant must have a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record.'
