Lubbock, TX Full Time
POSTED ON 3/10/2025 CLOSED ON 4/5/2025

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fitness Center Manager position at 30 minute hit Lubbock?

We're looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to help keep the day-to-day operations of our gym running smoothly. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. If you have strong organizational skills, a passion for fitness, and the ability to ensure everything behind the scenes runs seamlessly, we’d love to hear from you!

In addition to managing gym operations, you will also act as a part-time trainer who will provide our members with a non-intimidating and friendly environment in which they will receive an effective and safe workout. Our highly qualified staff will pay personal attention to each woman throughout her circuit. When a member exits through the front door of our facility, she should feel as if she has just received a 30-minute, semi-private training session and the best workout possible from any of our trainers.

**Applicant must be outgoing, personable, eager to learn, flexible, and have a great work-ethic! We pride ourselves on maintaining a great staff and are looking to add someone to our team who attains all of these qualities. No boxing/kickboxing experience necessary, you will be trained upon employment!**

Qualities of a 30 Minute Hit Trainer

  • COMPETENCE - Trainers have to be good at the circuit themselves. As an instructor, you are a role model for your clients. Be diligent with your own training and your own technique.
  • CONFIDENCE - Be confident as a trainer and keep an open mind. Members must be confident in their trainers and trust that what they are doing is correct. Trainers must be confident in their own skills in order to relay this confidence to their clients both as a role model and teacher.
  • PRESENCE - Physically, mentally, and emotionally a trainer must be “present” to their floor clients. Let the members know that you are always watching them. Confirm this by making yourself seen visually at all times (in their peripheral vision) as well as constantly providing verbal feedback. The idea that a trainer is simply watching encourages hard work and members feel good that someone else besides them knows that they are working hard. Make a list of positive words and phrases – use these often throughout your shift, and especially when you have a full floor, and might not have time to correct or attend to every single member individually – you can still spend time with three members at once in one area of the circuit and encourage and motivate them in a positive way before quickly moving on. Refer to and review these regularly in order to change them up and keep it fresh. Share your ideas and teaching methods with fellow trainers. We are all on the same team!
  • FOCUS - If a client wants to make personal conversation while working out, be polite and keep the conversation short. At the end of the day, they will be happier that they had a great workout instead of socializing. Focus on the members training in the circuit and try not to get distracted from members that are not on the circuit. Stay polite and cut these conversations short in a friendly manor. Sometimes members may not understand that your primary responsibility is to run the floor effectively. Never work out while teaching. Only participate in the circuit for teaching purposes. You are an instructor while you are on the floor and not a paying member.
  • COMPASSION AND UNDERSTANDING - Understand that every person has strengths and weaknesses and remember that the clients are doing their best. It is every trainer’s job to teach and motivate these women, avoid getting frustrated and keep a positive attitude at all times.
  • Continue to look for new ways to communicate in your teaching - everybody understands, hears and learns things differently.
  • TEAM PLAYER - Always back up each other as trainers; never disagree with another trainer in front of a member. If you don’t agree with a particular technique or teaching method, let the members know that there are different approaches and discuss this matter separately with a trainer, owner or head office.
  • INDIVIDUALITY - Use your own individual style to your advantage. Different trainers add different elements to the circuit, which keeps things fresh. Let your style shine through your personality, teaching methods, and how you relay motivation and instruction to your clients, NOT in ways or exercises that stray from the 30 Minute Hit circuit.
