At Canary AI, we're revolutionizing workforce management by combining AI-powered employee retention solutions with tax credit optimization. We help employers with large hourly workforces build stronger, more engaged teams while maximizing their workforce's value. In less than a year we've acquired two companies and now serve over 1600 employers and process 200,000 hires per year. We are based in Atlanta, and we are seeking our first Business Development Representative to work with one of our co-founders to help grow the business. This is a ground floor opportunity for a person who is up for the challenge and rewards of working in an early stage start up.
Job Duties
This is not a cold calling job.
The primary job duties are to work on business development initiatives to generate more business from current clients and to assist our co-founder in the sales cycle for new, large partnership sales. What does this mean? It means you will use internal data, talk to customers, conduct independent research and collaborate with our founders to come up with programs designed to generate revenue. You will then work cross-functionally with marketing, account executives and product to create and launch the programs.
You will also have secondary responsibilities for creating Sales PowerPoints, preparing quotes and proposals, assisting and/or making customer presentations, and following up on inbound leads we get from referrals or over the web.
Qualifications
We are looking for hunters. Years of experience is not needed. A person with 1 to 3 years selling in a SAAS start up is ideal but other backgrounds which show initiative, creativity, hustle and grit will be considered. You can expect a lot of support but not a lot of structure. If you require a lot of pre-defined playbooks and sales kits this job is probably not a good fit. Part of being in a start-up is figuring out what works and what doesn't; we are still in that stage. It's a great place to be if you want to make an impact.
We also want to see that you completed something difficult. This can be satisfied with a 4-year college degree, work experience, taking care of a family, or learning something new. We don't care about what it was as long as it was something you had to work hard at to succeed.
Job Location
This is a hybrid job. We want people in the office at least 3 days a week. Why? Because one of the key ingredients of a successful start-up is culture and we have found that the best way is to have in person interaction. How many hours and which days you come in is flexible.
Our office is located on the Atlanta Beltline in the Old Fourth Ward. Preference will be given to local candidates who can walk, bike or scooter to work. If you want to move here, for the right candidate we can work with you on that too.
Compensation
The base annual salary for this job is $45,000 to $55,000 with on target earnings of $100,000. We offer medical, dental, vision and paid PTO. As an early employee you can expect to participate in the company's bonus programs as we roll them out.
