Senior Project Cost Accountant
Salary: $70 - $90k
Location: Boca Raton, FL - In office
Environment: This is not a hybrid or remote role; the position requires full-time, in-office presence
Hours: Monday - Friday 8am -5pm

The Senior Project Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial performance of assigned projects. This role manages day-to-day accounting activities, including client invoicing, budget reconciliation, maintaining accurate project financials, reviewing incurred costs, resolving budget variances, and partnering with the operations team to address gross margin issues. This high-visibility position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can effectively prioritize, plan, and communicate with internal teams, vendors, and clients. This is a non-supervisory role
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project financials from start to finish, including budgets, cost tracking, and gross margin monitoring
- Analyze cost variances and provide actionable insights to project and accounting teams
- Review and process subcontractor work orders, vendor invoices, and client billing
- Ensure timely and accurate entry and coding of labor, materials, and equipment costs
- Support project closeouts, audits, and deliver ad-hoc financial analyses
- Act as point of contact for field teams and vendors; address project-related financial issues
- Recommend process improvements and assist with quality control initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
- 5 years of accounting experience, with a preference for cost accounting
- Solid understanding of GAAP; construction industry experience a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with Acumatica or similar ERP preferred
