Organizational Overview:

The Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC) is a private, non-profit, full-service, real estate development, management, and finance organization focused on revitalizing Cincinnatis urban core in partnership with the City of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati corporate community. 3CDCs work is specifically focused on the Central Business District and the Over-the-Rhine (OTR) neighborhood. 3CDC invests in and develops residential, office and retail properties, parking facilities and civic spaces. 3CDC also manages multiple real estate assets and provides event production services and management for four major civic Spaces - Fountain Square, Washington Park, Zeigler Park and Memorial Hall. The organization also manages two Special Improvement Districts, the Downtown Cincinnati Improvement District and Over-the-Rhine South Special Improvement District, providing clean and safe services, homeless outreach, beautification efforts, and marketing support to both districts. With an annual operating budget of $19 million, 3CDC has a staff of approximately 110 full-time and 120 part-time employees engaged in real estate development, asset management, event production, civic space operations, place management, marketing, public relations, fundraising, finance and accounting. To date, 3CDC has invested in real estate projects totaling over $1.6 billion. In addition, 3CDC manages over 670,000 square feet of commercial square and 5,100 parking spaces with annual operating revenues totaling more than $29 million.

3CDC also manages The Cincinnati Equity Fund and the Cincinnati New Markets Fund (the Funds). These investment funds, totaling about $146 million, provide necessary financial capital to 3CDCs development projects.

Job Summary:

Ziegler Park Summer Camp got its start in 2017, shortly after the park reopened to the public following a $32 million renovation. Located in the Pendleton neighborhood, near Over-the-Rhine, Ziegler Park creates an engaging atmosphere for local youth including a playground area, interactive water feature, basketball courts, and a full-size swimming pool featuring a diving well and diving boards, climbing wall and 5 regulation lap lanes with diving platforms. Campers participate in daily activities including basketball, STEM-programming, swimming, chess instruction and more.

The Camp Director is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing programs and experiences for children in a group setting. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of camp staff and campers. They will work collaboratively with Counselors and camp partners to provide a joyful, safe and enriching summer experience for the children. The Camp Director must be enthusiastic about engaging children in daily camp activities including swimming, chess, STEM learning, basketball, general exercise, and team building activities.

The Camp Director is responsible for developing, facilitating, and overseeing the Ziegler Park Summer Camp including the supervision, guidance, and direction of camp staff. The Camp Director reports to the Program Coordinator.

Tasks:

  • Join in planning meetings and give feedback into staff roles and camp needs.
  • Oversee and carry out the operations of each camp groups programming schedule and activities, ensuring a healthy, positive camp environment.
  • Supervise and direct all staff and volunteers assigned to work with the summer camp to lead group activities and other staff duties.
  • Coordinate with program providers and contracted outside programs.
  • Assign duties for daily set-up and clean-up of the camp area.
  • Assist 3CDC staff in orientating camp staff (prior to and during camp); assist with Counselor Training Camp as assigned.
  • Support and guide the development of camp counselors.
  • Administrative duties including daily check-in and check-out of all campers, sending daily camp reports, maintaining inventory log and camp records.
  • Manage staff, camper and parent relations.
  • Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure the proper packing and storage of all supplies and equipment at the close of camp each day.
  • Submit camp staff notebooks and a final camp report to Program Coordinator including all records, camp incidents, inventory sheets, equipment needed and other recommendations, staff evaluation, etc. within two weeks of close of camp.

Qualifications, skills and/or specialized knowledge:

  • At least 4-5 years of experience with childcare, teaching or camp counseling required.
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be able to participate in potentially strenuous physical activity.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict mediation.
  • Excellent organizational skills, work habits, and consistent follow-through
  • Must be able to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality

Licenses, Credentials, Certifications:

  • First Aid and CPR certification required
  • Water Safety Training

Skills or specialized knowledge:

  • Must be able to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to, swimming, team building initiatives, physical games, and activities.
  • Must be capable of carrying loads of up to 90 pounds.
  • Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
  • Must have the ability to physically manage and support children when needed for safety in general camp activities (child weighing 50 - 200 pounds).
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks outdoor in different climate.
  • Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • If applicable, remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.
  • If applicable, see and observe all sections of an assigned zone of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Additional mental requirements: compare, decide, direct, problem solve, analyze, instruct, and interpret.
  • The ability to work well under stress.
