Position Overview

We are seeking a Controller to serve in a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Finance/Accounting Team. This role is pivotal in providing accurate financial information to management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing financial controls within the organization.

This position will be in person a minimum of 3 days per week located in either our Glenview, IL office or our Woburn MA office.

Job Responsibilities:

• Financial Oversight: Manage all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing the accounting staff and preparation of financial reports.
• Internal Reporting: Drive the monthly closing process. Responsible for preparation of timely accurate monthly financial statements.
• External Reporting: Coordinate the preparation of reports for external parties including lenders, insurance providers, owners, and tax authorities.
• Audit and Compliance: Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting. Responsible for understanding and complying with current accounting policies, procedures, and regulations. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Internal Controls: Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Budget Management: Work with the FP&A team to monitor the financial performance against the budget and forecast to identify insights for management.
• Team Supervision: Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in process and efficiency and effectiveness.
• System Management: Working with management to identify and maintain systems used by the finance team.
• Financial Analysis: Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
• Previous work experience as a Controller
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
• CPA required
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Experience with creating financial statements
• Deep experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
