Position Summary
3STEP Sports is seeking an Operations Assistant – Facilities & Event to support the Operations Director in oversight of our facilities and youth sports events. This is a full-time, onsite position that will be based out of our Glenview and Northbrook offices.
From November through April, the Operations Assistant’s primary focus will be to provide facilities and operations support at our two main buildings in Northbrook/Glenview, which service our athletes during the afternoon/nights/weekends for practices and clinics. From May through October, the Operations Assistant will focus on outdoor events by supporting the Operations Team with youth sports tournaments taking place locally and throughout the Midwest. This includes travel to the event venue, set-up, breakdown, and providing event support through the tournament weekend. The Operations Assistant must be flexible to meet the needs of the business, including working evenings and weekends when training sessions and tournaments are taking place.
The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and thrives in a team environment. This person should have excellent critical thinking, communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Facility Management Indoor season (November through April) duties include: Facility set-up and breakdown, including ensuring proper signage and lighting are in place around the building, proper doors are open for building access, and securing the building after the final session. General cleanliness of the facility that will see 1000 athletes a night.
- Facility Management Outdoor season (May through October) duties include: Assist the operations staff to organize the warehouse and trucks for events, load and unload transport trucks for events, assist with event setup and breakdown.
- Event support: Be part of 3STEP’s traveling operations crew, driving or traveling with transport trucks to and from events throughout the Midwest with other set-up/operations team members. During events, assist with and oversee thousands of attendees onsite at any given time, including parking, field maintenance, and support to the general public attending events. Additionally, work with third party service vendors onsite.
- Manage our local outdoor facilities
- Monitor the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas
- Oversee inventory and organization of the 3STEP Glenview warehouse
- Miscellaneous maintenance needs
Experience, Skills, and Requirements:
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to speak confidently and professionally with external partners
- Possess strong organizational skills, detail oriented and ability to multi-task.
- Must be flexible to work nights and weekends. Schedules will vary week to week.
- Must be able to lift objects and set up for events prior to their scheduled date/time.
- Must keep a clean and organized workspace and facility.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office is a plus.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Sports/athletic background preferred but not required
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and without direct supervision
- Must be available for flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
- Comfortable with power tools and able to build basic projects
- Must be able to lift over 40lbs and work outdoors in possibly adverse weather conditions
- Overnight travel required
