JOB SUMMARY

The Intermediate Budget and Cost Accountant is responsible for performing a set of planning, forecasting, budgeting, and analytical activities that support a company’s major business decisions and overall financial health by helping to combine financial data, operational data, and external data (like market trends) in one place and provide analysis to plan for the future and guide more profitable decision-making while, also, providing support to ERP System modernization efforts.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Month-end Reconciliation Process

  • Prepares various reports and calculations that assists with the analysis and recording of Current Expected Credit Loss in compliance with ASU 2016-13 on a monthly basis
  • Prepares monthly analysis relating to the foreclosure valuation adjustment and records corresponding entries
  • Composes monthly budget to actual profit and loss statements of different products and documents any abnormal activity
  • Assists with compilation of interim and yearly audit selections from inhouse and 3rd party auditors
  • Prepares quarterly analysis pertaining to Servicing Rights to present to senior management

Profit Cost Analysis

  • Prepares monthly reports and analysis for different business units’ leaders
    • Creates individual business unit reports based on the allocations of profit and costs through the Profit Cost Module system
    • Prepares Product Line Profit and Loss statements
    • Prepares Servicing and Originating Costs reports
  • Distributes approved reports and fields questions from business unit leaders
  • Produces ad hoc reports using the profit cost module
  • Works to identify variances and proactively provide analysis to senior management

Financial Planning

  • Supports team with monthly forecasting and yearly budget processes
  • Prepares the monthly forecast reconciliation for review, assists with any updates to forecast, and helps identify inconsistencies between EPM data and ERP data
  • Assists with gathering updated budget information from various business units during yearly budget season
  • Compiles various statistics and metrics monthly to be utilized during forecasting and budgeting

Continuous Improvement

  • Assist team with accounting enhancements and modernization projects
  • Completes company provided training to stay knowledgeable of current industry standards
  • Attend weekly team trainings to further knowledge of team projects, tasks, etc…
  • Identifies and recommends areas of opportunity

QUALIFICATIONS:                                                                                                

  • College degree or advanced degree required in accounting or finance.
  • Two to Four years’ experience in accounting related field.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Querying Knowledge.

  • Organization and Analytical Skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Motivated and self-starter.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a telephone, calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be comfortable with various forms of communication including but not limited to email, Teams, Zoom, and over the phone.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information at all times.
  • Will work in a state-of-the-art indoor temperature controlled, sealed window office environment
