JOB SUMMARY
The Operations Specialist III assists the Underwriting and Closing department. This position is responsible for reviewing mortgage loan files for accuracy and assisting in correctly and efficiently taking a file to its completion.
JOB FUNCTIONS
List 3-5 primary functions and support duties that define the role and the outcomes expected. If possible, indicate the frequency devoted to each duty (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually). Please note the percent of time spent performing each primary duty in the space provided (% of time should equal 100%).
File Maintenance
- Assign due out dates for new loan submissions and conditions based on published turn times; assign files to the Underwriting team
- Issue the clear to close in the LOS
- Confirm completeness of system data related to contract, closing screens, document delivery dates, and file event dates
- May be responsible for adding, updating, or clearing conditions within the company loan operating system
- Properly provide the status of any failed audits to ensure responsible party can complete timely resolution of audit deficiencies
Auditing
- Accept new loan files and review for quality, minimum submission standards
- Identify and interpret post-closing failed loan document messages
- Maintain an overall error percentage of less than 15%
- Review and maintain documentation according to required standards
- Complete a thorough checkdown of final approved loans and
- Complete random quality control checks of loans at various stages (Processing, Underwriting, Closing) to ensure compliance with department standards

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Years of Related Experience: 1 year mortgage experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Processing or underwriting experience helpful but not required
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of mortgage products and process flow
- Knowledge of regulatory issues surrounding consumer lending products and guidelines
- Proficient in typing
- Excellent Time Management
- Proven Written and Verbal Communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams and Internet Explorer, Adobe PDF
