Description
The Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation II (PAFF) implements the parish family’s commitment to forming future generations in the Catholic faith in a comprehensive manner, forming them to be active disciples of Jesus Christ in the Church. This includes the leadership for evangelization and catechesis for Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Bernadette parishes.
POSITION PURPOSE
Develops, implements and directs Faith Formation Programs for preschool, elementary, junior high, senior high students and adults. Plans and facilitates Sacramental Preparation Program in collaboration with appropriate groups or individuals in the parish and/or region.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with the pastor, staff, and consultative bodies in implementing the mission of the parish.
- Assures the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for faith formation for all age levels, as delegated by the pastor.
- Directs the Sacramental Preparation programs (OCIA, Infant Baptism, Children’s Sacraments, Adult Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation)
- Plans for and implements programs in support of faith formation including programs and support for families and parents.
- Leads or attends planning meetings related to faith formation events, objectives, strategies and goals.
- Plans and organizes course work and prepares for and teaches classes in specified areas.
- Recruits, trains, motivates and provides general and specific direction to volunteers involved with faith formation activities and programs.
- Develops and administers budget for faith formation.
- Assures collaboration with the school’s religious education and faith formation activities.
- Assures purchase and allocation of equipment and materials for faith formation programs.
III. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
- Prepares correspondence related to faith formation
- Attends community and parish meetings to promote faith formation objectives and activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Primary:
- Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Catholic Church by extending the ministry of the archbishop.
- Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.
- A practicing faithful Catholic and active member of a parish in good standing with the Church.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience directing or coordinating faith formation programs in a parish is preferred.
- Minimum educational qualification: an undergraduate degree in Religious Education, Theology, Pastoral Studies, or Education, Sociology or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Other Elements:
- Available to work on evenings and weekends.
- Effective in verbal and written communication.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and see projects through to the end with detailed thoroughness and excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in leading, motivating and collaborating with volunteers, including recruiting new volunteers.
- Able to adapt well to evolving environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel and Outlook), Google Workspace Apps (Gmail, Drive and Calendar) and Social Media platforms (Facebook and Instagram)
- Technical skills needed for multimedia presentations and for producing the necessary printed materials and curriculum support materials required for the formation programs.
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.

Salary : $57,000 - $95,000
