PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Implements the parish family’s commitment to youth ministry through a comprehensive program of formation. This includes, but is not limited to, sacraments, catechesis, ministry, service, community-building, mentorship, and vocational discernment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with the pastor and staff in implementing the mission of the parish.
- Participates in the comprehensive planning, implementation, and evaluation of parish goals and objectives, with a specific focus on youth.
- Serves as a professional resource to parish staff regarding youth ministry.
- Participates and cooperates in regional and deanery planning and collaboration efforts.
- Coordinates the faith formation program for middle school and high school:
- Plans and coordinates/leads weekly faith formation sessions for youth.
- Coordinates outreach/service, and social events for middle school and high school.
- Supports school/parish activities and events for youth such annual retreats, mission trips, 8th grade BBQ, etc.
- Coordinates and ensures participation in certain parish/deanery/archdiocesan events
- Provides opportunity for vocational discernment and spiritual growth for youth.
- Manages the youth development program in collaboration with Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation and Holy Rosary and St. Thomas More Schools.
- Ensures recruitment, enrollment, accompaniment and formation of parishioners serving as catechists, small group leaders/mentors, or core team members for youth ministry:
- Identifies and invites new catechists/ small group leaders, mentors, and core team members.
- Provides training and ongoing formation for new and seasoned catechists.
- Engages and supports leaders serving youth from cultural communities.
- Provides a spiritual half day retreat or morning/evening of reflection at least once a year.
- Coordinates Sacramental Preparation for Confirmation for school and parish students
- Organizes the Confirmation sacramental preparation retreats.
- Coordinates liturgy for Confirmation Mass in collaboration with liturgy coordinator (or appropriate staff person).
- Organizes Confirmation reception.
- Manages youth involvement by tracking sacramental and community engagement:
- Assigns each youth to a small group leader/mentor.
- Ensures all mentors provide appropriate accompaniment and pastoral care for each individual assigned to them.
- Provides training for youth mentors.
- Manages the budget for youth ministry.
- Assures the budget for Youth Ministry is prepared and submitted in a timely manner.
- When budget is approved, assures the monthly monitoring of income and expense and co-authorizes all expenditures for that budget with the approval of the PAA.
- Plans and coordinates fundraising events which support youth programming in collaboration with the approval of the PAA.
- Follows and implements office systems and procedures for youth ministry:
- Maintains regular communication with youth parishioners through periodic bulletins and/or Flocknote.
- Maintains some established office hours for availability to staff and parishioners.
- Submits program and sacramental archives to the records/archive’s coordinator.
- Ensures safety and policy compliance for youth ministry. This includes:
- Ensures all parishioners working with youth (minors) are up to date on their Safe Environment Training and background checks.
- Stays up to date and serves as a resource for archdiocesan and parish youth ministry, insurance, and human resources policies.
Qualifications
Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.

Salary : $57,000 - $62,000
