Accounting Assistant:
Position Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping, accounts receivable/accounts payable, and a thorough knowledge of GAAP. Experience in construction accounting is a plus. This role will assist the Director of Finance in preparing and analyzing financial statements, developing budgets and forecasts, and overseeing accounts payable and receivable processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Statement Preparation:
- Assist the Director of Finance in preparing and analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance to develop annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
3. Cost Monitoring and Analysis:
- Monitor project costs and expenses related to architecture, interior design, and construction projects.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies to improve profitability.
4. Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:
- Oversee accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, payment approvals, and vendor management.
- Manage accounts receivable to ensure timely invoicing and collection of payments from clients.
- Work with banks to submit construction draws.
5. Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Conduct periodic audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls.
6. Transaction Recording and Reconciliation:
- Record transactions and assign classes to transactions.
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards.
- Review financial transactions and financial reports for accuracy.
7. Collaboration with Project Teams:
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes through collaboration with construction, architecture, and interior design teams.
- Work with the interior design team to record furniture proposals.
- Manage accounts receivable past due accounts.
Qualifications:
- Previous bookkeeping and Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable experience.
- Previous construction accounting experience is a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of debits/credits and GAAP.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and client interaction skills.
