Job Summary :
This position provides logistical support to all Client's system-wide business units. The incumbent will be required to make timely and critical business decisions regarding the best mode of transportation for materials and equipment in routine situations, as well as during planned and forced outages and emergency storm restoration efforts. The role also requires extensive knowledge of carriers, Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) rules and regulations, and utility materials and equipment. The successful candidate will be required to be on call and work in shifts to support outages and storm restoration efforts.
Job Requirements : Education :
High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain preferred.
Experience :
Prior experience in the transportation services field.
Experience in all aspects of transportation, including LTL, Truck Load, Parcel, Hotshot, Dedicated, and Air.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Knowledge and Skills :
General knowledge of logistics to efficiently and effectively route materials and equipment in both routine and emergency situations.
Knowledge of carriers, NMFC classifications, D.O.T. regulations (including Hazmat qualifications).
Knowledge of air freight, truck, hotshot, OS / OW regulations, and international freight requirements.
Knowledge of contractual agreements with carriers to maximize freight savings.
Knowledge of T&D and Power Generation materials and equipment.
Key Job Responsibilities :
Assist internal customers with transportation needs.
Resolve logistical issues and provide logistics solutions.
Build strong relationships with carriers, suppliers, and internal customers.
Maintain knowledge of D.O.T. rules and regulations.
Ensure timely deliveries of materials and equipment in both routine and emergency situations.
Review freight invoices to ensure accuracy.
Negotiate freight contracts.
Knowledge and understanding of the NMFC Classification Guide.
Knowledge and understanding of D.O.T. regulations pertaining to transporting hazardous materials.
