What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Director - Internal position at 50 North?
What you will be doing:
As Activities Director, you will oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of daily programs, ensuring they meet the diverse needs of our members. You'll work closely with staff and instructors to maintain a welcoming, innovative, and safe environment while managing personnel decisions and compliance with organizational policies.
- Lead and supervise activities staff and instructors, ensuring a high-quality member experience.
- Develop and manage a variety of programs that promote health, wellness, and community engagement for older adults.
- Oversee hiring, training, and performance evaluations in partnership with the HR Manager and Assistant Director.
- Coordinate facility scheduling and collaborate with community partners for events and activities.
- Maintain department records, equipment, and budgets.
- Make critical decisions regarding program modifications, improvements or discontinuation.
- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines, insurance requirements, and OSHA standards.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience: A four-year degree with a minimum of two years of experience in activity programming and/or performing arts, preferably with older adults or community services.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Leadership and organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of adult learning methods and trends in senior wellness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Publisher, Excel, and social media platforms.
- Experience in performing arts.
- Must have or obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
Other Requirements:
- Valid Ohio driver’s license.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings.
- Physical capability to move up to 50 pounds and navigate the facility as needed.
