Title: 2nd Assistant Varsity Football Coach for the 2025-2026 School year

Reports To: Varsity Football Coach, Athletic Director, Principal, Superintendent
Employment Status: Part time
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license
- Teacher’s Certificate (preferred)
- Coaching and administrative abilities.
- Attendance at a Sports Medicine Credit In-service (preferred)
- Ability to relate to and inspire young athletes.
- Knowledge of the care of and for prevention of athletic injuries.
- Organization skills/resources to enhance the program.
- Skill in oral presentations.
- Able to get along with other coaches.
- Desire to invest time during and out of season.
- Knowledge of football with emphasis on fundamentals.
- Knowledge of training and conditioning techniques.
- Ability to diagnose player deficiencies/prescribe corrective activities.
- Ability to make minor repairs on equipment.
General Description: To prepare a football team for interscholastic competition. Cooperatively works with other coaches.
Essential Functions:
- Encourage students to participate in the program; select players, and managers.
- Account for the condition, inventory, distribution, and procurement of all equipment.
- Account for the procurement and distribution of all medical supplies and equipment.
- Account for assignment of lockers and the condition of the locker room.
- Schedule, record, and assist, as needed with physical examinations for all players: Prepare eligibility lists for the AD. Shall be accountable for all players meeting necessary requirements pertaining to insurance, physical cards, eligible forms, and athletic waivers.
- Account for the collection of all fees, if any.
- Instruct and assist players in the care and prevention of injuries; taping techniques.
- Attend rules interpretation meetings; schedule coaches’ meetings as needed.
- Instruct players in the proper use of body building equipment, training, and so forth.
- Prepare outside facilities for all practice sessions.
- Schedule, plan, and conduct all practice sessions and scrimmages; prepare and distribute play books; hire officials for practice scrimmages (if needed)
- Shall be accountable for player behavior during practice sessions, meetings, locker room activities, bus trips, and other activities under the auspices of the program.
- Develop and enforce training rules.
- Organize filming of all games; present and discuss game films from previous scrimmages; review and evaluate all game films.
- Schedule and conduct meetings to discuss forthcoming opponents.
- Attend as many reserve and other inter-district football games as possible.
- Contribute to public relations by providing information to newspapers, radio and television stations, school newspapers and other school publications.
- Aid in the selection of assistant coaches; evaluation of same.
- Correspond with college and university personnel to assist players acquire athletic scholarships.
- Communicate with classroom teachers (if needed) to determine the achievement level of each player.
- Participate in Awards Program by distributing awards to the players.
- Instruct and supervise managers in game and practice preparation.
- Attend and participate in Athletic Booster Club meetings, if possible.
- Evaluate players after each game and at the end of the season.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Helps instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
- Conducts other duties related to the coach’s duties as assigned by the athletic director and/or superintendent.
