About us
We are looking for Medication Technician to work in our detox facilities with experience in mental health and/or SUD. Medication technicians are responsible for the complete care and well-being of the clients while they are receiving services at the facility. The successful candidate will maintain open lines of communication with staff, attending clinicians and physicians, clients, and families. The Medication technicians will assist with all collection and distribution of medications within the facility.
Schedule
- Full-Time Split Shift
- Monday-Friday, weekends when needed
- MON- TUES 7:30AM-4PM (PST)
- WED - FRIDAY 3:30PM-11PM (PST)
Compensation: $23 – 25; Based on Experience
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collecting and distributing medication
- Review urinalysis results with client
- Attend administrative meetings
- Manage, label, package, and store medications in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
- Proper distribution, handling (sanitary), and proper disposal of medication when needed
- Observe and document client self-administration of medications. Prepares controlled medication handoff.
- Inventories and notifies clinical staff of low inventory medications.
- Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner
- Follow up with any questions and concerns regarding medication or abnormal test results
- Assists in admission of new residents, which includes orienting resident to unit and program, checking resident for contraband and caring for resident’s valuables and belongings.
- Provides resident supervision in coordination with the clinical staff.
- Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationship with residents within the guidelines of the clinical programs.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepare nutritious meals for clients during the shift when needed (seldom)
- Transports residents off the property when necessary, including driving to AA /N.A. meetings, doctor appointments, or other required destinations.
- Performs all necessary documentation regarding clients (i.e.: rounds, vitals or COWS/CIWA, group sessions)
- Performs tasks related to general center maintenance, such as bed making, room check, care of resident’s belongings, general center cleanliness, and minor property maintenance.
- Is aware of physical and safety factors on the unit, performs security rounds and reports unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
- Assists residents through the discharge process.
- Responsible for all other duties assigned by a supervisor.
Qualifications:
- RAD-T, SUDRC, or CATC from CCAPP, CAADE, or CADTP preferred OR willing to get registered with a DHCS approved SUD counselor organization within 14 days (Obtained during onboarding or before).
- Medication Technician certification or willing to obtain within 14 days (Obtained during onboarding or before).
- Previous experience in mental health counseling or other related field(s) preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Hardworking and reliable
- Is sensitive to religious, ethnic and cultural differences in others and shows respect and empathy.
- Can work alone, but also as a team with fellow staff in the business setting and actively seek out advice and/or guidance to solve problems
- The candidate will have good time management skills and actively seek to accomplish tasks
- Be able to use a variety of methods and ideas to solve problems; whilst also being open to suggestions from others to find solutions
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods. Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds. May be required to ascend/descend stairs.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Hiring is contingent upon completion of a Background Check, TB test, and clearance on a drug screen and pre-employment physical. Current First Aid and CPR certification or willing to obtain upon hire.
