The Opportunity:  

Everyone is trying to “harness the cloud,” but not everyone knows how. As a cloud computing application architect, you know how to create a cloud-based technical architecture that meets client needs and takes advantage of cloud capabilities. What if you could use your cloud architecture skills to improve Army computer systems? We need you to help us develop cloud-based solutions for some of Army's toughest problems. 

 

On our team, you’ll work collaboratively with our project team to design a secure, cloud-based communications network to support mission-critical operations. This is an opportunity to use the latest cloud technologies as you look for ways to improve your client’s environment using current cloud capabilities. Your technical expertise will be vital as you work with the Army to inform strategy and design and ensure standards are met throughout the cloud migration process.  

 

You’ll recommend tools and solutions based on your research of the current environment and knowledge of various on-premises, cloud-based, and hybrid resources. You’ll lead your team as they help the client overcome their most difficult challenges in the cloud. Additionally, you’ll broaden your skill set in areas like several cloud platforms and Infrastructure-as-a -Service while developing critical systems for the Army.

You Have: 

• 5 years of experience working with cloud computing platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and using tools, such as Terraform

• Experience with scripting languages, including Bash, Ansible, or YAML

• Experience with monitoring and optimizing cloud services for cost effectiveness and resource utilization

• Experience with implementing solutions using modern system architecture principles, including microservices

• Ability to articulate complex cloud concepts to non-technical audiences

• Ability to create technical artifacts, including logical and physical network diagrams, technical specifications, and system installation procedures

• Ability to analyze requirements, and design, implement, and operate highly available and scalable firewall and network security solutions in cloud environments

• Secret clearance

• Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience in software engineering, or 8 years of experience in software engineering in lieu of a degree 

Nice If You Have: 

• Experience with AWS cloud-native network and solutions, including VPC, Transit Gateway, VPC FlowLogs, PrivateLink, Direct Connect, DNS, Load Balancing, Security Groups, and ACLs

• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs or GraphQL APIs

• Experience in working with data manipulation libraries, including Pandas, and data serialization formats, including JSON and XML

• Experience with DevOps practices and containerization, including Docker, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or AWS CodePipeline

• Experience with AWS Well-Architected Framework

• Knowledge of AWS Cloud Edge Global Access (CEGA) framework

• Ability to work in development environments using JavaScript and AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK)

• Master’s degree

• AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Certified AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
