As a Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologist at Capital Women's Care, you will play a vital role in providing diagnostic imaging services for our patients. You will be responsible for performing sonographic examinations using specialized equipment to visualize internal organs and tissues to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.
Essential Functions
· Proficiency in Aseptic technique
· Strong background in Diagnostic evaluation
· Expertise in Sonography procedures
· Knowledge of Physiology relevant to imaging techniques
· Familiarity with Medical terminology
· Understanding of Anatomy for accurate imaging interpretation
· Experience working in an Emergency Room (ER) setting is advantageous
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform OB/Gyn sonography in accordance with company protocols in a proficient and timely manner. To include Transvaginal, pelvic, abdominal ultrasounds, obstetrical Doppler studies, as well as, ultrasound guided procedures
· Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infections disease, sterilization, and patient safety protocols, policies and procedures.
· Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information
· Ensure that the sonography examination order is complete, contains relevant information and meets the standard of “medical necessity.”
· Conduct patient clinical assessments and perform the diagnostic medical sonography examination ordered by the supervising physician in accordance with professional and facility protocols.
· As necessary, acquire additional ultrasound imaging to facilitate optimum diagnostic results for the interpreting physician.
· Identify and document any limitations to the sonography examination
· Provide preliminary report of sonography examinations for use by the interpreting physician.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Ultrasound Sonographer, ARDMS certificate required.
· ARDMS and GYN Preferred
· Active CPR certification
· High volume practice experience
· At least 2 Year previous experience in OB/Gyn
· Excellent communication and customer service skills
· Adoptable, proactive and quality-focused
· Computer proficiency - word, excel, outlook
· NextGen experience a PLUS
· Ability to travel between locations, on occasion.

Work Environment
· This position operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
· Exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and toxic substances in the work environment.
Physical Demands
· Lift up to 25 pounds
· Required to work extended periods of time at a computer terminal/phone.
· Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting.
Travel Requirements
· Dependent on the need for the division.
Education and Experience
Minimum Education and Experience
· Associates degree or equivalent from 2 year college or technical school: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· OB GYN experience required.
Preferred Education
Preferred Education and Experience
· Certification in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
· State licensure where applicable
· Proven experience in performing sonographic examinations
· Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
· Attention to detail and accuracy in imaging procedures
