**Job Summary**
The Vice President and Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer (CCPO) will be responsible for leading and overseeing the Compliance and Privacy programs within the University of Vermont Health Network. This senior-level position entails the development, administration, and ongoing enhancement of compliance and privacy initiatives across all healthcare partners located in Vermont and Northern New York.
The CCPO will report directly to the Audit Committee of the Network Board of Trustees regarding critical compliance and privacy matters, while also maintaining collaborative reporting lines with the Network General Counsel and other members of Senior Management.
The position includes supervision of a team of twelve professionals, which comprises Network Partner Compliance and Privacy Officers, a Compliance and Privacy Manager, a Compliance Supervisor, as well as associated analysts and specialists.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of compliance and privacy programs. - Provide compliance updates and address issues with the Board of Trustees Audit Committee, the Chief Executive Officer, and other senior leaders.
- Collaborate with the Network General Counsel, the Information Services Security Officer, and leadership across network affiliates to address compliance and privacy requirements.
- Function as the primary point of contact for State and Federal agencies concerning compliance or privacy issues.
- Investigate and resolve compliance-related concerns to ensure conformity with all applicable healthcare regulations and laws.
- Supervise and mentor compliance and privacy personnel, fostering a cohesive and effective team environment.
- Develop strategic initiatives aiming to fortify the network's compliance framework and uphold organizational ethics.
**Required Qualifications**
**Education:
** A Juris Doctor degree is strongly preferred; alternatively, a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field will be accepted.
**Experience:**
A minimum of five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare compliance and privacy is required. Proven management experience within a hospital or healthcare system is essential. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to manage compliance within complex organizational settings.
**Skills and Knowledge:**
Candidates should possess familiarity with healthcare reimbursement systems, fraud and abuse laws, as well as patient privacy regulations.
Expertise in resolving billing and regulatory compliance issues, along with matters related to organizational ethics, is needed. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are crucial for engaging effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
A comprehensive understanding of state and federal healthcare regulations, coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and build consensus within a large organization, is preferred.
