The assistant assumes overall responsibility for the kitchen environment and provides support in serving meals, snacks, and nutritional supplements to residents. Additionally, the dietary household assistant facilitates culinary-related activities for elders and the broader household, promoting engagement in food preparation and other kitchen-specific initiatives.
- Qualifications
- Prior experience in food services and culinary operations within a long-term care or hospital environment is required.
- A high school diploma or general educational development (GED) certificate is mandatory; an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of experience in skilled care or residential services for the elderly is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in reading, speaking, and understanding English is essential. The ability to write in clear and correct English grammar is also required. Candidates must demonstrate the capacity to read and comprehend straightforward instructions, as well as to draft simple correspondence. Furthermore, candidates should effectively present information to residents, visitors, volunteers, licensed nursing staff, and other employees within the facility.
