Overview
The Commercial Construction Estimator is responsible for estimating Type 3 and Type 5 construction of multi-story wood framed buildings working primarily, but not exclusively, in Construction Division 06. Associates will meet with contractors and their customers to assist them in the estimating process and complete all plans in the time frame agreed upon with clients. Estimators must be very detail orientated, patient, and have experience estimating either manually or with approved software. This position assists in the day-to-day operations of the store as assigned by the Store Manager.
Responsibilities
Create precise material lists for the specific purposes of installed sales.
Will be involved in material usage in addition to estimating.
Will work on the creation of scopes of work for subcontracted labor.
Reading plans and creating estimates.
Meeting with customers for reviews and / or changes.
Store duties as assigned by store manager.
Qualifications
Ability to use discretion and independent judgment.
Ability to review a given set of architectural and structural drawings and estimate the costs for the various wood materials and labor to complete the job.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business reports, technical procedures and / or government regulations; write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
