Job Title: Bakery Purchasing Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Management: Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating prices, terms, and contracts.
- Order Processing: Oversee and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliveries.
- Quality Control: Work closely with the production team to ensure the quality of ingredients meets bakery standards.
- Cost Control: Monitor and control procurement costs to meet budgetary constraints while maintaining quality.
- Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, new products, and price fluctuations to secure the best deals.
- Compliance & Regulations: Ensure all suppliers adhere to health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Reporting & Analysis: Provide regular reports on purchasing activities, inventory levels, and cost savings initiatives to senior management.
- Project control and milestone management
Key Requirements:
- Experience:
- 7 years of experience in purchasing, with at least 2 years in a bakery or food production environment.
- Proven experience in supplier negotiations and managing supplier relationships.
- Education:
- A degree or diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, relevant certifications or training in procurement and inventory management are beneficial.
- Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of bakery/food industry purchasing
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficient in using inventory management software and procurement systems.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
- Attributes:
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in inventory and ordering processes.
- Problem-solving skills to manage supply chain disruptions or delays.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Additional Desired Qualities:
- Knowledge of bakery production processes and the ingredients used.
- Experience with sustainable sourcing practices and eco-friendly packaging options.
- Understanding of seasonal trends and how they impact ingredient availability.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, with occasional overtime during peak periods.
- Primarily based at the bakery or production facility, with potential visits to supplier locations
Qualifications
